When files need to be fixed or rebuilt in order to work, file intervention is required. Most jobs are priced with a certain amount of time built in for file preparation. Some files are built incorrectly for the output requested or are so large or complicated that they require significantly more time than the pricing allows.

File Intervention	$30.00 per 15 minute period (min. 15 minutes)	$120.00 per hour

We expect to spend 10 to 15 minutes preparing your job for output and is included in our output prices.

File intervention is required when your file will not run based on the output requested and the time required to make your file work is expected to exceed 15 minutes. This may be because you have not followed the instructions we have provided or it may be because you have built the file in such a way that it will not work on the systems we are running. Remember, just because you can get a file to run correctly on a desktop printer or some other device, does not mean that your file will run correctly on a large format printer, direct digital photo printer, or a film recorder.

We also charge for file intervention if excessive time is required resizing elements because the resolution is inappropriate for the output or if you have used compression formats on imported elements.

Preferred layout programs include Quark XPress, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Please note that InDesign and CorelDraw does not work well on wide format printers and may incur Computer Intervention charges to make a file run.

File Intervention is more expensive because it is usually unscheduled; done on the most expensive of our systems; and done by the most expensive technicians. File Intervention can usually be avoided by following our published instructions. If in doubt, please call for assistance.
