35mm Digital Slides FAQs

Q: Can I get 35mm sildes from digital camera files?
A: Yes we make 35mm slides from digital camera files. Digital camera files should be submitted as JPEGs or TIFFs. We accept TIFFs and JPEGs on CD or via FTP. JPEG files can be uploaded directly to our online imaging site.

Q: Do you make 35mm slides from PowerPoint and other applications?
A: Yes, we also make 35mm slides from Powerpoint, QuarkXpress, Freehand, Pagemaker, Photoshop, and CorelDraw.

Whenever possible keep all slides in one document. Do not make a separate file for each slide.

Submit documents in native format. Raster files should be saved as TIFF, however we will accept Targa, PCX, Pict, JPEG, BMP or EPS.

The Sapphire is an RGB device. Raster files should be saved as RGB. Any imported elements should also be RGB. CMYK will work but results may be undesirable. Greyscale EPS imports will work so-so. NEVER use modes like duotone, lab color, index color, etc. They will not print correctly if at all; and we cannot tell prior to production that you will have a problem. All imported elements must be saved in EPS or TIFF format to work.

Format slides at a 2:3 ratio in landscape. If your software has a “slide” option in “page setup” then use it. If not use 7.33×11. All important information must be at least 1/2 inch in from the edges of the page as that will be covered by the slide mount. [figure 1]. For sizing of your imported elements, please refer to [figure 2].

Include all screen and printer fonts for any imported or linked elements. Do not use Multiple Master fonts. We do not support them.

Include all linked or imported elements. Remember: just because you can see it on the screen doesn’t mean it will print. What you may be seeing is merely a screen resolution preview not the full resolution element.

We accept files on 100 and 250 Mb Zip discs, ISO9660 CD’s, and Kodak PhotoCD. We support both MAC and PC media.

We also accept files via FTP or e-mail. Please read the instructions on how to transfer your files to us.
